Delay No Mall - 68 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay (Causeway Bay MTR) delaynomall.com

The Delay No Mall, a boutique design gallery cum exhibition space, is one of the hottest developments in Hong Kong in recent years. G.O.D. is behind the project. In other words, the hip lifestyle consortium Goods of Desire who already have several home design shops around the city. Delay No Mall sits on the site of the famous 1950s Hoover cinema with the old-fashioned marquee displaying the brands on sale inside, many of which are new to Hong Kong, including Kapok, Tagger, L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani, Rock Candy.

G.O.D. co-founder Douglas Young has also created the Delay No Mall with the aim of making it a focal point for Hong Kong's creative community because he feels that local artists and designers have suffered from a lack of support and a place to display their works. It was recently announced that MOCAChina, Hong Kong's first contemporary art museum, will open by October, occupying 7500sq. ft. of the Delay No Mall. Young's objective is for the products of local designers to mingle on equal footing with international brands.

Aiming to be on the cutting edge of all things urban, there is also the first Asian branch of New York-based MetroNaps: the concept being that quick afternoon naps boost energy and productivity – so curl up in your pod for 20 minutes of unadulterated peace and quiet (HK$90). Hey, Winston Churchill swore his catnaps got him through WWII! And if you want to come home with something a little more permanent, Primal Ink is a tattoo and piercing parlor with a team of international artists who can give you a lasting souvenir.

SUBHEAD: Treat Yourself

The steep incline of Hong Kong's streets can quickly have your kitten-heel clad feet begging for mercy so it's lucky for you that there is certainly no dearth of spas. The famous original New York Bliss Spa is finally coming to Asia, opening in the W Hong Kong this September but for those of you who can't wait there is a treatment room offering select services in the Lane Crawford at Pacific Place (2118 3966) and Times Square (3421 1966). For a mani/pedi on-the-go check out the new Champagne Nail Bar at Harvey Nichols where you can swill your liquid lunch while simultaneously being buffed and polished (2111 0400).

Homegrown spa brand Sense of Touch has recently opened an elegant townhouse day spa in the party zone of Lan Kwai Fong where they offer special wine and beer based massages including a Double Martini Ritual for couples – what better way to start your evening early? If ethereal tranquility is more what you had in mind, then tell your driver to take you over to the ESPA at the Peninsula where you can indulge in a sensuous crystal therapy steam followed by a spell in the relaxation room over-looking the harbor while you are tucked into a comfy lounge chair with personal stereo system and smoothies practically on tap – and that's before the aromatherapist even comes to get you!

The Peninsula Spa by ESPA – The Peninsula, Salisbury Road, Kowloon (2315 3322)
