what is your favorite bar or restaurant?
1920's restaurant because the food and location are simply great.
Describe your ideal Saturday evening in Guangzhou?
Easy. Meeting up with friends at The Paddy fields then heading out to some mad club to check out the nightlife.
How do you relax on Sunday?
I sleep all day! Then I tell myself that I will never, ever go out drinking again.
What do you love most about China?
The different kinds of food - you never have to cook! Also, no two days are ever the same. I also love the shopping.
What do you dislike about China?
When you cross the street, you have to look 360 degrees because traffic lights don't mean a damn thing here.
What is your favorite Mandarin phrase?
"Tai gui la!" I say that everyday.
What is the greatest lesson China has taught you?
That I can now cross street without fear of instant death . . .
Tell us a secret that nobody back home knows
Do you promise not to tell anybody else? OK, my Gucci gear isn't real! When I was back in Australia, I told everyone my stuff was genuine and real. They believed me.
What would you do if you woke up tomorrow morning Chinese?
I would ask every foreigner the questions I get asked every day:. "How much you earn?" "Are you married?" "Can you use chopstick?" "Do you like sandwich?"
What book changed your life?
My Chinese Phrase Book has saved my life more times than I can remember.
Where do we go to when we die?
To a happy place, I hope.
What is your worst ever fashion mistake in China?
Oh God, cowboy boots!
If you could travel back in time where would you go?
Back to the 1960s and live like Austin Powers.
If you knew the world was going to end today, what would you do?
Get all my friends together and party like mad and eat everything I am not supposed to eat.
What is the strangest thing you have put in your mouth?
Chicken feet.
What's the best thing you have stolen from a Chinese hotel?
The usual - toothbrushes, shampoo and maybe some glasses. Nothing too fancy. I know my limits!
What is the sexiest word in the Chinese language?
"Weeeeeiiii?" when I answer the phone.
What one living person do you most admire?
That would be my father for supporting me in everything I do. And then my boss for giving me this great opportunity here.
What is the best hangover cure?
I have a secret recipe: one greasy hardboiled egg which you can buy at a corner shop, two Panadol tablets, and a bottle of flat Sprite. Does the job every time.
What is the best thing you can cook at home for us?
Well, I can make for you some great instant noodles . . .
If you could have one magic superpower, what would it be?
I would love to do the Jedi Mind Trick.

Goodbye My Lover.
In a nutshell, can you define your philosophy of life?
I thought this interview was supposed to be fun? OK, I would have to say: work hard at what you love, treat your friends and family better than you treat yourself, and don't stress about the small things in life. Will that do?
