This might just be one of the most convenient bars around, being situated at the King Glory metro, and lthough In Club is hardly a new spot for Shenzhen clubbers, we'd like to point out that it's just undergone a great renovation – so the hip-hop and electric cuts should be banging better than ever. They still keep their darkly red color decoration, and cool dancer's "pool", but a few new accessories have been added into the mix. If you are going to organize a private party, you could do much worse than booking this place. Recommended.        5/F King Glory Plaza, Renmin Nan Lu,Luohu District (8261 1111) 人民南路金光华广场5层 Daily from 8.30pm-4.00pm Beer at 30RMB+. All cards.   Pachuca anacrusis doorway dysraphism kindliness. Your first impression of Hangzhou might very well be the same first mpression you get here - graceful, delicate, clean, and extremely tidy. The décor, with lotus embroidery on the walls, keeps things modern yet familiar with its fashionably retro style. The dishes do likewise. Hangzhou cuisine offers small delicate dishes and are a little bit sweeter than Shanghai cuisine. It never goes too far away from the tried and trusted ingredients, such as Chun'an  ham (淳安腊肉) and bamboo shoots. Even their Jimao Cai (鸡毛菜) is flown in from Hangzhou by air, and yet every  bite was fresh and juicy. Strongly ecommended are the Lin'an Bamboo Shoots fried with Meat (临安春笋炒腩肉 38RMB) and the Xihu Honey Lotus Root with sicky rice (西湖蜜糖糯米22RMB) – either as a slight dessert or a main dish. But what if you have never been to Hangzhou before? If so, why not buy some specialties like Hangzhou White Daisy (杭白菊28RMB/box). They are the same price as a box of Twinings ... ...

A respite from the urban hustle Wow, this is the most luxury I've wallowed in until now. It's not easy for me to describe the decor and the layout here. Entering one single room, it was mainly decorated in soothing earth tones with black and blonde wood and pleasantly cool small stones. It was unusually large as there was a large double bed in it with a desk and a sofa alongside. Yet these only took up a third of the room! The rest was the spa area. The most notable part is the un-drawing of the curtain to reveal a glass wall showing a beautiful lake and hills. Amazing! It should belong in Hainan Island or Saipan, right? Before the spa, the staff conduct a questionare about my body conditions. I was then recommended a Balinese Massage and an Anti-Stress Facial. The Balinese Massage uses Indian deep oil, which greatly helped relieve tension, while the facial used exclusive sap made from 100% floral extract and bee wax to help fight signs of fatigue. This is surely due to be a ... ...

A restaurant by day, a bar by night: Chili Padi is sandwiched on both sides by watering holes, yet it holds its own as a venue for the food hunter who loves Southeast Asian bites. If you are not a one-country crabber, and also searching for something spicy from Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand, then we advise you to come here first before going out for a beer. Then again, Chili Padi already has hundreds of wines for your consideration. Recommended most are their seafood and their curry kebabs, which are outstanding. The waitresses each have that Malaysian style (with sweet smiles!) while the manager serves you like a VIP. It's a place to relax and unwind with friends, and there is no need to rush your food. Great stuff! A2-17, Poly Cultural Centre, Nanshan District (8628 7087) 南山区保利文化广场A12-17 daily from 10am-2am, all cards, smoking area available. This is definitely not a good venue to dine alone but chatting or play-fighting with friends or your family on a big table is a real goer here. In other words, it's got "awesome BBQ" written all over it. Opened by a Korean lady, the restaurant presents a big and clean place to ply down plates of kimgee. But the real draw is the orean barbecue, which is simply mouth-watering, is the set dinner package  at 238RMB for 4 people with free imported Korean fruit juice and tasty pumpkin soup. It's also gigantic, so you might not know where to start. But no worries, it's time to fight with the stainless steel chopsticks with your friends. PS, they are not easy to handle. Have fun, and good luck!    B2-17, King Glory Plaza, Renmin Nan Lu, Luohu Distict  (8261 1516) 罗湖区人民南路2028号金光华广场B2-17号 Daily from 10:30am-10:30pm, Price: 60RMB/pp, all cards, free pumpkin soup. How this restaurant dropped into Shenzhen town is quite in accident. Susan, a Chinese    lady, has a great love of Spanish food. So her husband, a British gentleman, opened a small Spanish restaurant near their home, hired a Spanish chef (Xavier) to direct the real deal, and off they went. You will be glad they did it, too. The Tapas (38RMB+ but no small sizes) are very tasty, while the big dish of  Paella (155RMB, shared with friends), is a real winner. Plus, if you love Sangria (150RMB/for 3-4ppl) then you will be in heaven. In the name of love, Susan helps with the daily stuff and quality-checks every dish. If you don't know what to choose, she will recommend you many specialities. Super! And for the vegetarians among us, the big salad (43RMB+) and Soup of the Day (35RMB) will definitely satisfy your cravings. Oh, and by the way, you're going to love the source containers on the table - just don't steal them.  Shop 3, Taizi Hotel, T ... ...

Oh no... it's Dragon Boat Festival again! (Duan Wu Jie, 端午节,June 8th, 2008, Lunar May 5th.) That means my Lunar birthday is coming. Do you believe I was born when my mum was cheering for the dragon boat race while making Zong zi? Seriously, here comes this significant national festival food. These Chinese rice dumplings are made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings (Canton style Zong zi is stuffed with skinless mung beans and 'fat' meat) and wrapped in bamboo leaves. They are cooked by steaming or boiling. The Cantonese like to have them daily for breakfast, yet it is traditionally served and eaten during this month's Dragon Boat Festival. Enjoy! History Commemorating the death of Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese poet from the kingdom of Chu who lived during the Warring States period (278 BC), and who drowned himself in the Miluo river for his patriotism. According to legend, rice dumplings were thrown into the river to prevent fish from eating the poet's body, yet anoth ... ...

    Judging Nicola by her looks?

It is not easy these days to arrange an interview with Nicola Benedetti. The media interest in the twenty year old Scottish violinist is more suggestive of a pop star than a classical  musician. But perhaps it is not so surprising in this particular case – for there is serious money involved, a million pound record  contract with niversal/Deutsche Grammophon and three best selling albums to date. And then, of course, there is the way she looks (that is, great). Nicola recognises that marketing has played a key role in her success; but the former BBC Young Musician of the Year is keen that the glamour and glitz of photo-shoots should not be al- lowed to overshadow her devotion to her craft. "Marketing raises  awareness," she told that's PRD. "But longevity depends on what you do on stage, on what you record." And while audiences may be very familiar with the 'classical music babe' tag, Nicola believes she is quite different from the more ... ...
