What's new Dine like a Soviet Russian Restaurant   俄罗斯餐厅 1/F (behind Guangshen Hotel), Nan Hua Da Sha, Nan Ji Lu, Luohu District (8217 8021) 罗湖区南极路南华大厦1楼 It's seldom you see a Russian restaurant in town but this niche market is slowly expanding in Luohu. Smart move, this being the largest population area in Shenzhen. We couldn't tell it apart from the normal restaurants because its simple singage was buried into bar tables and KTV rooms. The Russian owner and chefs made us believe that it could be a real Russian restaurant offering real Russian cuisine. Indeed, here you have to follow a Soviet appetite: Borshoh (红菜汤 25RMB) first and Russian salad second (30RMB) and the Mutton Leg(烤羊腿30RMB) next, without any side-dishes (a typical Russian rule). Plus, health conscious diners will fall in love with their Buckwheat Coreal with Oil (俄罗斯黑米饭 22RMB). Unfortunately, it took us about two hours to finish dinner. We strongly recommend you play on the pool table (it's ... ...

IN Club

This might just be one of the most convenient bars around, being situated at the King Glory metro, and lthough In Club is hardly a new spot for Shenzhen clubbers, we'd like to point out that it's just undergone a great renovation – so the hip-hop and electric cuts should be banging better than ever. They still keep their darkly red color decoration, and cool dancer's "pool", but a few new accessories have been added into the mix. If you are going to organize a private party, you could do much worse than booking this place. Recommended.        5/F King Glory Plaza, Renmin Nan Lu,Luohu District (8261 1111) 人民南路金光华广场5层 Daily from 8.30pm-4.00pm Beer at 30RMB+. All cards.   ... ...

Since relocating to the Cruise Inn, X-TA-SEA still remains a premiere sports bar in town, with live and recorded sports coverage from Australia, Europe and America, including US college football/basketball, NFL, NBA , Rugby, Nascar, Formula 1 and much more. In other words, the Olympic Games definitely won't be overlooked this summer. For our sports lover, a football table, a pool table and their in-house dart tournaments should not be missed. And, in general, there are not only live bands playing blues and Hip-Hop but plenty of pub grub on offer too, like juicy steaks and beer snacks. A fine place for catching up with old friends or making new acquaintances, this joint can be counted on as a regular on the early nightlife list. And don't forget to join their 6th Year Anniversary party as well as Bill's (the owner) birthday celebrations on June 20. Result!        1/F, Cruise Inn, Sea World, Shekou, Nanshan District (2686 7649) 南山区蛇口海上世界 ... ...

clubbed out It's alive, not dead Ibiza It's not a new venue for bargoers yet many people have heard that this place "may close" because Michelle, who used to be a lovely girl with welcoming smile, has departed. But Ibiza is still alive and kicking. It's also hosting some terrific bashes, like the Somnambulist Party with real somnambular music. Drinking is cheap at 20RMB/bottle, yet Mars (the owner, and also an interesting guy) may offer you some free swigs with a team of friendly staff. The Chinese style decoration, with big red lanterns and dragon wallpaper, is still eye-catching the outdoor seating is a must with friends (we like the chairs near the green bamboo.)The pool table is free, located in the basement, while the second floor with sofas gives you a bird's eye view of the joint. Though its name is now as cheesy as hell, the music at Ibiza is still pretty decent.  We don't know what their future holds, be we say to them: Good luck. 1024 Huafu Lu ... ...

what's new A nest of happiness Le Nest There's always a nightlife surprise happening in Luohu, though there are already tons of great bars and clubs that you needn't catch a cab to reach. However, it's not easy to find a simple place to grab a beer there, shocked as many people are by the increasingly gaudy and luxurious decor and grandeur of the scene. Le nest, on the other hand, has the perfect location in Guomao, between Soho and Party World, and looks sedate (even though on closer inspection you'll hear the poppy hip-hop bouncing down the stairs). Climbing up these European-style wooden stairs, a grand view of a bar with colorful lights opens out into a great atmosphere. Le Nest brings its own DJs who are pretty much spot on with their beats. If you're sick of the loud music, simply go downstairs to their wine tasting room, where you can relax on great comfy seats and a real furry carpet. One to watch in the future. Clubbed out Cold beers with a hot Latin twist U bar 3/F, Pacific Commercial Buiding, Jiabin Lu, Luohu District (8213 8079) 罗湖区嘉宾路太平商贸大厦3楼 This is not exactly a fresh venue for Shenzhen bar goers but it's definitely worth checking out for city newcomers who are new on the scene. We love to hang out with friends here because it's cheap, colorful and plays live music. Two rooms are separated before your enter. Turn left and you will get a passion of Hip Hop, with sweating DJs and chunky beats, although the dancing area is nowhere near big enough (but who cares when you're smashed?) Turn right and get live music by Brazilian band BR Connection who play daily (except Monday) with traditional Brazilian and classic soft rock with a Latin twist. But if you're not really bothered about throwing rap shapes or grooving to live music then just go straight to the pool table, hustle with a stranger, and have a few cold beers. Best of all, the table is just 5RMB.  Loser pays. Goo ... ...

What's new Fresh brews on the Columbus ferry  Galleon Restaurant & Bar 3/F, InterContinental Shenzhen, 9009 Shennan Lu, OCT, Nanshan District (3399 3388-8521)  南山区华侨城洲际大酒店船吧 Hooray, when the Santa Maria set sail from Spain in 1492 to discover the Americas, little did we know she would finally discover Shenzhen centuries later. Wait, we mean the replica inspired by Columbus's vessel, anchored recently amidst the InterContinental hotel. Stranger still is the fact that this replica is also a restaurant and bar with a micro-brewery and entertainment platform for fun-starved landlubbers. Luckily, with InterContinental taking the helm, German brewmaster Ulrich Altbauer came aboard too. Last month guests could taste his freshly self-brewed beer and experience the atmosphere of drinking on deck, as well as the meticulously sourced brewing ingredients. And the taste? Utterly delicious and refreshing. If someone asks what brand of beer this is then tell him Gall ... ...
